5 best Miratel nonprofit report blog posts of 2014

At the end of each year we take a little time to look back at the most popular posts on the Miratel blog over the last twelve months. If there are days that you’ve missed reading the blog these ‘best of’ lists capture the articles that have had the greatest interest this year.

We break our top five lists down by category and today we lead off with the most popular blog posts about nonprofit fundraising reports from 2014. Please visit over the coming days for each of our top five lists of the year.

  1. 3 Factors Affecting Nonprofit Fundraising According to Blackbaud Survey – This article continues to be extremely popular in no small part because the data comes from the esteemed library of Blackbaud who provide some of the leading nonprofit fundraising analysis in the industry. The survey provided key information that explained that the economy, the donor’s age and the personal connection with an organization were the three largest factors that govern what makes donors give according to their ‘Donor Perspectives’ study.
  2. 8 key nonprofit fundraising findings from technology study  – The 2014 Fundraising Technology Trends Study contains a wealth of information about nonprofit fundraising and how technology is being used and what the overall benefits of this adoption are proving to be. Topic covered include; growth trends in 2014, relationship between results and effectiveness, potential for better software adoption by nonprofit fundraisers and correlation between success and technology use. This was one of my favourite reports of 2014.
  3. The Nonprofit Communications Trends Report 2014 – communications tools and social media –  Part of our review of the 4th annual Nonprofit Communications report that focused on communication and social media. We look at which social media channels are being used, where nonprofits are ready to experiment with social media and the overall state of play when it comes to communication channels being used (and how important they are considered) by nonprofits at the moment.
  4. Crowdfunding success for nonprofit fundraising via Indiegogo? Our own assessment of the growth and potential of crowdfunding using the tool Indiegogo that we wrote back in April. With more than 500,000 visits per day and a platform and audience well matched to raise funds for nonprofits we give it the Miratel seal of approval. In addition the fees are reasonable within an arena that continues to grow and succeed.
  5. Blackbaud list most generous cities for online nonprofit fundraising – If you have ever wondered which cities are the most generous in terms of online fundraising then this study from Blackbaud answered most of those questions. Very comprehensive data was provided that collected data from more than 250 cities each with populations greater than 100,000 and the studied data represented more than 8 milllion nonprofit donations.
