Eco friendly business spotlight: Benjamin Moore does Ecofriendly Paint

Within the blog we like to promote businesses that are showing a pronounced regard for eco-awareness and corporate responsibility as these are two principles that Miratel values to a great extent. Our Toronto call center has a long standing commitment to green partnerships which you can learn more about on our site.

paintWith the New Year now upon us, you may be thinking of doing some simple home renovations, like painting up a room you’ve been making excuses for in the past. A great basic way to freshen a room up is by painting but the downside (aside from the work) is the horrible smell it leaves behind. There is a new product on the market that solves this painting woe. This new product is Benjamin Moore’s new ecofriendly paint called Natura. Natura paint is an interior premium waterborne paint that has a zero VOC; it is almost odorless and still performs like any other premium paint. The best aspect of this new eco-friendly paint is the Green Promise that Benjamin Moore has designed. Benjamin Moore says that “[t]he coatings [/paint] industry is filled with third-party organizations like U.S. Green Building Council (LEED), Master Painter’s Institute (MPI), Greenguard, California’s Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and Green Seal that are trying to define what green means for coatings as well as other consumer products.” With all the green acronyms that have been introduced recently it is difficult to keep track/ navigate/understand what every abbreviation means and what they stand for.

In an effort to make things little easier for their consumers to navigate all of these labels and get the best product available “Benjamin Moore has concluded that [they] need to make it easier for [their] customers (DIYers, painters, designers and specifiers) to make sense of all these standards while also bringing clarity to our perspective on green. To that end, we are introducing our Green Promise® designation that will be used to designate coatings that offer both lower total volatile compounds and a premium level of paint performance”. You should know that organic volatile compounds are VOCs and they are what cause that toxic paint smell we all know and loathe. In the past people just added a cap or two of vanilla to their paint to try and mask the smell but now there is a very real solution that also minimizes the toxins that cause that smell.

Back to “the Green Promise Designation” it is their assurance that its ‘environmentally friendly coatings meet and exceed the strictest industry standards, while also delivering the premium levels of performance you expect from Benjamin Moore’. The aforementioned ecofriendly paint has been primarily available for commercial use in hospitals etc… in the past, but now you can have it in your home. Isn’t it nice that you can enjoy your newly painted room(s) without having to let the house air out or leave for a night or two? Now, you have no excuse not to try out a new daring colour in any room now that you know about this ecofriendly paint. Painters In Spring TX suggesting to have some fun painting: it will be a nice way to give the house a facelift before more of your resolutions fade away into the Spring! Happy (ecofriendly) painting DIYers.

I use Natura and Aura on a regular basis within my client’s homes and I like that there is no smell not only for me the painter but also for the client. The coatings are a superior finish.
