10 best countries for global professionals on the move according to latest report
Global citizenship is not a new concept by any means but it is becoming a more popular concept as markets open and people move for better opportunities. As a Canadian call centre, we are aware of the benefits of working in Canada and I was interested in exploring how it compared to other countries as I have done in posts like the best country to live, the smartest countries, the happiest countries, the most peaceful countries, the friendliest countries, the most charitable countries, the best countries for quality of life, the best countries for business, the top countries for life expectancy, the best countries for working women, the best country for child well-being, the best countries for higher education, the most popular countries, the least corrupt countries, the countries with the best reputation, the best countries for ease of doing business, the best countries for starting a business, the best country for business, the best country for customersatisfaction, the best countries with the most competitive economies, the best countries for entrepreneurship, the most sustainable countries, the best countries to grow old, the best country brand, the best countries for business, the most sustainable countries, the most charitable countries, the most prosperous countries, the countries with the highest minimum wage, the safest countries, the best countries with the highest average salary, the best countries for social progress, the best countries for working women, the best countries for mothers, the best countries for average life expectancy at birth, the most popular countries, the most gay friendly countries in the world, the most peaceful countries and the best countries for giving back. Today, we’ll delve into global recruiter Hydrogen Group’s ‘Global professionals on the move – 2014‘ report to look at the top 10 best Overseas Workplaces.
In order to tabulate these results they conducted an online survey, which garnered “2,444 responses from professionals in 99 different countries working across a range of sectors such as finance, oil and gas, and technology.” Compiling responses from a wide-range of subjects lends more diversity to the data collected and broadens the scope of this project. Hydrogen is able to give a more accurate and detailed picture of how those looking internationally for work view other countries. Based on the collected responses, the 10 best countries for global professionals on the move are:
- United States of America
- United Kingdom
- Australia
- Switzerland
- Canada
- Germany
- Singapore
- United Arab Emirates
- France
- Spain
The findings from this report indicate that English-speaking countries were more desirable locations overall for those looking for work abroad. There are many reasons that those seeking employment abroad choose a particular country – it can be that one city appeals to them because of its overall culture or social-political position. However, it seems that “the survey found that one in five respondents had no city preference and were willing to go where the job opportunities existed. This suggests that the desire to be in one particular location is secondary to gaining the right international role, wherever it may be.”
This report illustrates that the world perceives Canada as an economic force, as well as a welcoming and inviting place one would want to live. Research of this nature can help those considering relocating for work or businesses considering expanding their brand.
