Miratel Solutions has proudly provided telephone fundraising services in support of the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation lottery programs for many years. As one of the top 5 cancer centres in the world, Princess Margaret Hospital has been leading the way in personalized cancer medicine, treatments and services that has proven more effective in treating cancer patients.

In 2009 & 2010 the hospital treated more than 200 types of cancer in over 12,000 new cancer patients. Although it seems little progress has been made in eradicating this disease, President & CEO, Paul Alofs says:

“Just look at the many advances made by scientists over the past 30 years as well as survivorship numbers and the progress we have made in early detection. Despite this, we haven’t reached our goal yet – to Conquer Cancer – and we will keep working diligently until we do.”

Research, technology and programs are largely funded by the hospital’s foundation that runs over 100 community fundraising events every year.  Its mission is to “raise and steward funds to deliver breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care at Princess Margaret Hospital, Canada’s leading cancer research hospital.”

The guiding principles in the foundation’s fundraising efforts include having a passion for their vision, an entrepreneurial spirit, creating and maintaining strong partnerships, sustaining the ongoing work to eradicate cancer and continuing to grow these efforts. Each year, The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation raises over $70 million in support of cancer research, patient care and educational programs.  With an objective to raise $225 million in net fundraising revenue by 2013, the foundation’s lottery programs greatly contribute to that goal.

Princess Margaret Welcome Home Sweepstakes for Cancer Research

Recently, the foundation launched its Welcome Home Sweepstakes for Cancer Research fundraising program.  It’s an opportunity to win an exciting variety of prizes worth over $10 million, including a grand prize home in Oakville valued at $3.9 million which was fully furnished and decorated by Canadian personality and interior designer Lynda Reeves. Other prizes include:

• A fully furnished, decorated and landscaped cottage in Muskoka valued at over $1.1 million
• A 13th floor condo a top the world famous TIFF Bell Lightbox valued at $495,900
• A downtown Toronto condo valued at $357,600
• An Early Bird Prize consisting of a 2012 Ferrari 458 Italia valued at over $329,000
• 8 ‘take the car or cash’ prizes
• 10 ‘take the vacation or cash’ prizes

Only 300,000 tickets will be sold and can be purchased at a cost of $100 each or 3 for $250. Last year’s lottery sold out early. Get your ticket(s) before September 30th and you will qualify for the bonus prize draw consisting of a 13-day super deluxe all inclusive trip for 2 adults to the “Best of Italy”. The winner may also choose $25,000 cash.

Current statistics show that 40% of women and 45% of men will be afflicted by some type of cancer throughout their lifespan. Proceeds from each ticket purchase will ‘help conquer cancer in our lifetime’.
