st Four CSR trends to watch in 2011 was an insightful post from January 2011 that explored the 4 areas in which CSR business trends were expected to grow in 2011. The areas included: 1) CSR as a company-wide policy to be managed daily by all and not just by a department; 2) CSR will be more transparent in operating terms but also more visual for customers and service users; 3) supply chains will be expected to perform to the same CSR standards as the companies themselves; and 4) more reporting and contrasting will be available for public consumption perhaps most usefully benchmarking within industries such as restaurants, automotive and hotels will provide more comparable and tangible data to help evaluate company performance.
nd Top 50 Canadian CSR Business List was based on a list sourced from Macleans.ca which selected companies based on their performance across a variety of environmental, social and governance (ESG) indicators. The indicators were tracked by Jantzi-Sustainalytics and were selected from their rank amongst their respective peer groups in Jantzi-Sustainalytics’ Global Platform. All companies included on the list are either “Canadian-listed or a wholly owned subsidiary of a foreign-listed company with significant operations or brand presence in Canada.”
rd Top 500 Global Green Rankings Includes 19 Canadian Companies in this comprehensive report released by Newsweek based on the environmental performance of the world’s largest publicly traded companies. Company size was evaluated according to revenue related to its most recent fiscal year, market capitalization, and number of employees. The report began in 2009 and is the first of its kind conducted by a major media organization that measures and ranks companies on their “actual environmental footprint, management of that footprint, and sustainability communications”.
th CSR Special Report – The London Olympic Stadium – part one. This post focussed on next summer’s 2012 Summer Olympic Games to be held in London, England for the first time since 1948 and the centrepiece of the whole event being the brand-new ‘London Olympic Stadium‘. The arena will seat about 80,000 spectators for the games with construction costs estimated to run to £537 Million (about $835 million US). With London already having football (soccer) and rugby stadiums, the future purpose of the London Olympic Stadium raises questions.
th Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada 2011 released by Corporate Knights is from the 10th annual report published by the online magazine that ” supports clean capitalism” and with a mission to humanise the marketplace. The results were based upon performance within four key areas: environmental, social, governance and transparency in addition to an evaluation of the core business impact.
